Aim of the Webinar:
The webinar will provide an overview of avoidable transfusions reported to Serious Hazards of Transfusion (SHOT), the UK haemovigilance scheme that has been operational since 1996. Recurring themes from analyzed reports will be discussed, useful resources will be signposted, and key safety messages will be highlighted. Strategies to address gaps in practices and enhance patient safety will be explored. While the discussions will focus on data from the UK, the key principles of effective patient blood management and improving practices to ensure optimal use of blood are relevant to all transfusion staff worldwide.
