Dr. José Eduardo Levi is a distinguished biologist with extensive experience in blood banking and virology. Holding Master and PhD degrees from the University of São Paulo in Brazil, he brings over 20 years of experience in blood screening and transfusion safety. A prolific researcher at the Virology Lab of the Tropical Medicine Institute, University of São Paulo since 1995, Dr. Levi’s expertise encompasses blood-borne viruses, Human Papillomaviruses, and notably, Arboviruses. He has authored 200 peer-reviewed scientific articles and supervised 20 theses in these critical areas. His long-standing involvement with the ISBT Working Party on Transfusion-Transmitted Infections, including coordinating the Virology subgroup, underscores his dedication to blood safety. Currently, he serves as the Director of Medical Affairs at Grifols Diagnostic.
